2026 Top New (to me)
The best of everything I listened to for the first time this year. In no particular order.
- King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard: Nonagon Infinity. The first time Road Train cuts off mid-measure and you think you have a corrupt file *chef's kiss* XD. What is infinite is this band's range. They are as energetic as Floyd is mellow and I love it. Gen: Psychedelic Rock
- King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard: I'm In Your Mind Fuzz. At the risk of sounding like a broken record but what can I say - I dig this shit. Gen: Psychedelic Rock, Whatever the hell they want.
- The Protomen: Act III: This City Made Us. Latest installment of the dystopian Megaman rock opera you didn't know you needed in your life. They just keep getting better. They've just about nailed the pacing for the read along portions. Incredibly fun. The vocal performances are fantastic and keep improving. Gen: Rock, Synth-rock
- Nick Drake: Pink Moon. Biggest suprise find from the 1001 Albums project so far. Gentle, beautiful, melancholy, medatative. Great music for sitting on the back porch watching the wind in the trees. What a tragedy that this artist died so young. Gen: Folk
